"I have been reading around here in the boards and just wanted to ad my two cents.
We are currently in the process of opening a medium sized business downtown in the very near future.
We hope to employee up to 100 people in the first two years. I am sure that we will not receive any help from MDC much less support as we are a software and internet company.
But the prices of living here are the exact reason that I came back to open our business here.
Odessa has Telvista which is very simular to our situation, but the pricing for downtowm Midland is very reasonable.
We will see what happens here in the near future as we begin to lay out our final plans.

Revitalizing Downtown Midland....hmm how much will this cost? Have you seen the plans? I read in the newspaper (MRT) that they plan to make Wall Street a two lane street (1 lane in each direction) from Big Spring east to Front Street. This will allow bigger, wider sidewalks and more landscaping space. Bigger, wider sidewalks for what? Who is moving downtown? There is already a sidewalk in place to accomodate whoever might need to walk along the street. If the expansion or revitalization of downtown is successful, and I for one hope that it is successful. Where would one plan to park to access the businesses downtown? Lets see, I can park in the City Subsidized Wilco Garage or perhaps the City Subsidized Garage at Bank of America. Come on Midland, why are we subsidizing privately owned, pre-existing businesses? This was not the intent of the Economic Development Tax! I can assure you that when you visit downtown Chicago you will pay dearly to park in an attended lot and that money goes directly to the business owner. I don't believe that the City of Chicago is subsidizing any of the parking in that vibrant city!
