Aikido of Midland: A new beginning

Welcome weary web traveler! As this little virtual page of mine hasn't focused on myself much lately, I thought I'd pop on by with some interesting news regarding the world of Aikido.

As was mentioned before, Midland is lucky to have among its peers Dr. John Riggs. Sensei Riggs is a doctor of chiropractic and has been working in Midland as such for five years. Before that, he practiced in Waco & Austin, but is happy to call Midland his home. Aside from his work, he is an avid practitioner of the martial art, Aikido.

Unlike many other arts, the elevation of rank in aikido does not reach very much beyond 8th degree. Those who have reached such ranks have skill unparalleled in the world and were most likely awarded such rank by the founder and creator of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba himself. Sensei Riggs has been awarded the rank of Yondan, also known as 4th degree. This is a great achievement and one few can lay claim to.

With the ticking of time, comes change. None of us can avoid it, and such is the situation with Sensei Riggs. Just like Midland is growing and changing, so to has Sensei Riggs. His chiropractic practice is outgrowing his current office space and this has created a need to move into some place new. I don't feel I can release the future location at this time, but I can say that later this year, such a move will enable Dr. Riggs to have a space of his very own to teach martial arts as well. AIKIDO OF MIDLAND is a new name that will soon be seen far and wide. Much work is yet to be done, but if all goes according to plan, soon he will be right back at it... teaching the Art of Peace to many in Midland.

For more information, please contact Sensei Riggs at aikidoc1@cox.net or you can call (432) 570-8792. Sensei Riggs specializes in traditional Hombu style Aikido as was taught by the founder and is now being taught by Doshu and Shihan Kato of Japan. Sounds pretty interesting, huh? It is! But you have to call us up to learn more! Drop a line anytime... ;)
