George W. Bush Presidential Library in Midland

Midland, Texas. Population 97,000 and growing slowly but surely. Surrounded by desert and tumbleweeds, a person could ask themselves: "Why would anyone want to live here?" Well, you have to KNOW Midland to understand.

Two very important people in all the world know the importance of Midland, President & Mrs. George W. Bush. The President is already off to a good start on his second term in office and hopes are high for a bright future. Iraq has gone from a war-torn dictatorship to free elections by the people. Education, medical, social and economic reforms are being worked on at this very moment in time.

President Bush has done great things for this country and one day soon, he will take his rightful place in history by means of a Museum/Library that will forever remember his good deeds.

Midland was once home to the President and First Lady both, long before they had ever met one another. Like two ships passing in the night, they would often times find themselves just around the corner from each other... without ever having known it. Close friends of George and Laura had them both over for dinner one night. Sparks flew over our beautiful Texas sky, and shortly thereafter they married.

So many memories, so many dreams, good times and bad were all had in Midland, TX. On a personal note, I remember seeing President Bush back when he was just "George," sitting by a tree on A Street with the twins by his side. We were all watching the Midland Senior High School Homecoming Parade. As I looked over and watched a dad enjoy time with his children, I wanted to go over and introduce myself. "Hello Mr. Bush! My name is John Boswell. You used to coach little league baseball with my father Ellsworth. My brother Mike was on your team!" You see, I knew he was going to be famous some day. I didn't want to interrupt his personal time with his kids, so I just sat back and enjoyed the day.

Now as I look back, I can't help but wonder how or if my life would have changed through meeting a future President. Well, my future can change now. Today.

Midland has been home to TWO Presidents, and it can be home to the Legacy of our current President. Keep your eyes open, Midland! Don't let the size of other cities make you feel Midland has no chance to win such an opportunity! We can be the caretakers of a President's Legacy. Isn't that worth sitting up and taking notice? I know I am.
